Witches Brew benefits Feeding Success | Local News

Defiance County United Way will accept donations for the Feeding Success program at the Downtown Defiance Witches Brew on Thursday.

Donations from Feeding Success are used to supply Defiance County colleges and high schools with personal care products and additional foods that students can receive on referral from counselors, teachers, administrators and coaches when need arises.

This program is designed to meet the needs of students who have no longer completed the elementary school complementary feeding program, Backpack Buddy. Feeding Success’s pantries in Defiance middle and high schools provide the opportunity for older students in need to receive resources with increased discretion and privacy.

While United Way of Defiance County accepts donations for the Feeding Success program on an ongoing basis, there will be a special fundraiser during Witches Brew.

“We encourage you to stop by for apple cider and some fun this Halloween as we come together for a great cause,” said Abby Wolfrum, Executive Director of the United Way of Defiance County.

Monetary donations and packaged goods will be accepted during Witches Brew. All donations will be distributed to Defiance County Schools for use in their individual Feeding Success pantries.

This fall’s Feeding Success collection was one of the mini-campaigns United Way of Defiance County runs during its annual campaign cycle. The goal of the 2021 campaign is $ 300,000. The next mini-campaign will start on December 1 to encourage year-end giving.

Money raised through the annual campaign is distributed to organizations and agencies that run programs in Defiance County. Currently, United Way of Defiance County funds 26 local programs that address the areas of education, health, essential services and / or financial stability. A list of funded programs for 2021-2022 is available at https://www.unitedwaydefiance.org/funded-programs.
