Second Round of P-EBT Benefits for Mississippi Public School Children


JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Six days after the Mississippi Department of Education and Mississippi Department of Social Services began providing P-EBT benefits to more than 92,000 children, the second round of benefits is being disbursed .

On October 19, P-EBT benefits to more than 275,000 children who were in kindergarten to grade 12 and who participated in the national school meals program during the 2021-22 school year began to be distributed. .

Families of PreK-12 students who were eligible for the National School Lunch Program during the 2021-2022 school year will receive a one-time benefit of $391 for each child enrolled in the program.

Federal rules set these benefit amounts.

Only a limited number of cards can be printed and sent out each day, and heads of state say it will take around three weeks for the more than 275,000 cards to be distributed to eligible children.

Distribution of benefits to families with SNAP-eligible children under the age of will continue throughout October.

All eligible children will receive a new P-EBT card.

Families should check their mail carefully for new cards arriving in the coming days.
