Saturday cruise benefits tornado victims

Hillmont Mercantile and the Hillsville Pentecostal Holiness Church, in cooperation with God’s Pit Crew, will organize “Cruise-Thru” donations for the Kentucky campaign on December 18 to benefit tornado victims.

According to organizer Kim Clontz, victims are in dire need of cans of gasoline, extension cords, bottled water (for drinking and a gallon for cooking), generators, tarpaulins of all sizes, large black garbage bags, canned goods, flashlights. with batteries and hygiene products (shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, deodorant).

Information provided by God’s Pit Crew indicates that they already have several toy and clothing semi-trailers on the way for the victims, so items like this are not needed at this time. Donations can be dropped off at any time of the week at Hillmont Mercantile located at 526 North Main Street in Hillsville or the Pentecostal Holiness Church at 203 Virginia Street in Hillsville.

The Saturday fundraising cruise will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and there will be a donation drop-off point in front of Guynn Furniture & Mattress Company at 610 North Main Street to collect donations. There will also be volunteers during the event to collect cash donations for God’s Pit Crew for tornado victims.
